The restaurant is the first solo venture from Mothersill, who has earned a solid reputation as one of Brighton's most well-respected chefs, thanks to his 20-year career cooking in some of the city's most celebrated restaurants.

A deeply personal project, Furna welcomes guests to enjoy Mothersill's unique take on classic dining, informed by memories from his childhood, travels and extensive culinary career.
The interior design has been overseen by the relatively new design studio, Elemental Architecture Design. With a focus on design and well-being, they provide well-thought-out spaces that work for their occupiers now and for the future.
The brief set for Northern Lights was to create bespoke and Signature lighting with a contemporary aesthetic that was both welcoming and restoring. The soft palette features a bright, fresh feel with a lighting scheme designed to ensure that the restaurant creates a comfortable atmosphere that is complementary to the local aesthetic and food.
Dotted throughout the restaurant are our minimalist bronze powder-coated table pendants. The simple-yet-effective fixtures comprise laser-cut discs with exposed lamp holders suspended by a chocolate twisted braid flex.
In the private dining area, a sumptuous walnut oval dining table is haloed by our bespoke bronze powder-coated and crystal chandelier. The eye-catching metre-wide fixture benefits from many clear crystal droplets that refract the illumination of five built-in lamp holders. Our Cavendish wall lamps have been fitted to the surrounding mirrors, bringing further illumination to the room using integrated LED lighting strips. This architectural design has an evident Art Deco influence, further enhanced by our rich metal patinas and beautifully detailed metalwork.
A cluster of pendants from our Signature Collection have been cleverly assembled at the bar area to create a spectacular overhead feature installation. The cluster comprises our Casina, Milo, Otto and Xavier pendants; all finished in rustic smoked and clear glass to complement the venue's aesthetic. Using the shape of traditional Victorian pendants as a starting point for our designs, the fixtures have been manipulated to represent something far more contemporary. The fittings are finished with oiled bronze machined bosses and vintage lamp holders and fixed with decorative industrial gallery screws. Each fitting benefits from a blend of laser-cut metals and handblown glass features.
