Hair extensions, cuts, waxing, massages, body wraps and eyebrow treatments are offered at the store's state-of-the-art hair & beauty facilities.
With a sophisticated retro nod to the salon's former 1982 design, Sparcstudio Design, an award-winning studio with a focus on luxury spa and wellness design, fitted out the luxury department store's beauty quarters with glossy peach marble, cream stone counters, powder-pink walls and finished it off with gold touches. Sparcstudio applies a bespoke design approach to every project, and they always aim to create a unique product with a real 'sense of place', individuality and luxury.
The team at Northern Lights was delighted to be invited to work on such a prestigious project. With over 170 years in business and many prestigious designers being involved with the store's interior down the years, the opportunity to join a massive part of British retail heritage was incredibly appealing to the company. The deluxe fit-out, overseen by MOprojects, includes beautifully arranged soft hues of powder pink combined with more striking brass details.
Our uniquely crafted spiralling brushed brass pendant in the centre of the salon comprises twenty-five handcrafted arms, each complete with a brass cover spinning for a lamp holder. The intricately designed fixture brings the entire room together by creating a stunning focal point that is aesthetically charming and entirely purposeful. Each entrance to the salon is decorated with our brushed brass wall sconces, each complete with polycarbonate tubes fixed to a brass backplate.
In the salon's waiting area, the customer seating is illuminated by brushed brass wall sconces finished with a curved front trim. The front trim covers a polycarbonate tube that emits a warm glow. Close to the customer seating are a series of desks ornamented by our brushed brass pendants, all uniquely identified by laser-cut brass discs soldered to matching brass tubes.
Elsewhere, a hallway containing numerous entrances to purpose-built spa rooms has been lined with our bidirectional laser-cut wall sconces, each complete with polycarbonate acrylic diffusers that emit a calming source of light. The spa's reception desk is haloed beautifully by our three-tiered brushed brass pendant. The expertly crafted pendant has been completed with various brass details, including ceiling couplers and trim plates. Our uniquely designed powder-coated champagne gold wall lamps in the laser rooms have been expertly coupled with alabaster plates that expose individual veining patterns.
Finally, the main reception and check-in desk has been adorned with several of our Tibor table lamps, each one modified to be fixed into the work surface. Our Tibor table lamp is exquisitely handcrafted from old English brass and oiled bronze for a marvellous sharpness that contrasts with its vibrant white alabaster shade. Subtle details such as the ribbed stem and knurled finial are the finishing touches that help complement the unique veining found throughout the alabaster stone.
