Following a £35 million renovation and its move to join the Curio Collection by Hilton, The Caledonian Edinburgh celebrates its 120-year legacy with a contemporary, design-led update. The venue’s redesign earned a well-deserved place in the World Luxury Hotel Awards - the pinnacle of achievement in the luxury hotel industry.

Appointed by designers Cunningham McLean, we were tasked with creating key bespoke lighting to bring warmth, charm, and drama to the newly transformed interiors.

THE COURT

Spine and globe feature light

Blending mid-century influences with historic grandeur, our bespoke spine and globe light forms the centrepiece of The Court—a striking installation designed to enhance the guest dining experience while paying homage to the past.

Standing over 4 metres tall and 7 metres long, the structure of the sculpture needed to be robust enough to hold the weight of the glass globes whilst still appearing to float above diners mid-air.  We used five vertical uprights and a sweeping curved steel spine, affixed directly to the floor between restaurant seating, to tackle both demands. The robust framework supports 58 opal acrylic globes in graduated sizes, layered to evoke a sense of floating elegance and soft diffusion.

Finished by hand in a bespoke sparkle gold, the metalwork catches and reflects the ambient light, bringing depth and subtle shimmer to the space. The result is a breathtaking piece that projects soft, ambient pools of light while creating a visual anchor within the restaurant's immersive design.

Halsa ceramic table lamps

In the newly styled guest rooms, over 100 of our Halsa table lamps were selected to complement the tactile and comforting material palette.

Crafted in ceramic and finished in a variety of reactive and natural glazes, the lamps are inspired by tide patterns etched in sand. Their textured bodies and warm ambient glow bring a sense of tranquility and organic beauty to the curated interiors, while echoing the hotel's rich connection to nature and place.
