Working through the inspirational images from The Harris Partnership and BDP Lighting, our design team developed a series of template for the abstract shapes. A mixture of polished stainless steel, clear acrylic and frosted acrylic materials were selected to add depth. Each shape was then cut with our laser cutter to achieve the abstract geometric forms. More than 14,000 forms in total were suspended on the ultra-thin wires which were further enhanced by 21,000 clear crystals.
The ceiling plate sub-structure was constructed in aluminium with a mirror-polished trim plate reflecting the suspension drops. Getting the right quantity of suspensions to achieve the proper density was a result of constant testing and development.
Eight bespoke chandeliers were installed in the main hall with another one at the mall entrance. Each bespoke chandelier rains down from the glass roof, which from a distance makes them look like blocks of light with shimmering details and from closer up the leaves appear to be ethereal, almost floating in the air.
The installations are illuminated by precise, narrow beam LED luminaire light projectors, which were specified by BDP Lighting. This allowed the bespoke chandeliers to catch the light rays throughout its entire drop, creating an immersive, impressive experience from every angle.
