The Peninsula London offers 190 exquisitely designed bedrooms and suites.  Designed by Hopkins Architects and Peter Marino, Northern Lights were invited by the procurement team at Argenta to join an impressive roster of British artisans to bring the careful renovation of this luxury hotel to life. We developed a series of timeless bespoke lighting for the hotel rooms and suites, in addition to public areas.

Perfection Through Prototyping

Intensive prototyping was factored into the roadmap. Our team produced full mockup sample rooms to test materials, finishes and lighting performance – a critical requirement for such an anticipated and prestigious development that was five years in the making.

Pushing Boundaries - Technology & Lighting Control

To meet the technical brief, we integrated dual switching, dimming controls, and concealed drivers within compact lamp bases - a challenge that required specialist in-house expertise. The project’s demands led us to employ a dedicated technical engineer, now our Head of Technical & Quality, reflecting our ongoing commitment to innovation and excellence.

Bespoke British Design
The “Best of British” Craftsmanship remained a key theme throughout, and we provided personalised consultations, and tailored recommendations on materials and finishes to the best manufacturing processes, to deliver on the brief.  

Earthy tones and rich finishes in the suites define a timeless aesthetic. Lamp bases combine ceramic, leather, brass, and steel, paired with classic porcelain silk shades, with precision metal detailing finished in burnished bronze. In the public areas, coloured ceramic lamps introduce playfulness, while a custom rust lacquer adds warmth to the ballroom lighting.

Each piece celebrates artisan craftsmanship and technical precision - lighting that embodies the Peninsula’s commitment to British refinement and hospitality excellence.
