The Peninsula London offers 190 exquisitely designed guest rooms and suites. Designed by Hopkins Architects and Peter Marino, Northern Lights were invited by the procurement team at Argenta to join an impressive roster of British crafts men and women to bring the luxury interior vision to life.
The “Best of British” Craftsmanship remained a key theme throughout, with exclusive collaborations with acclaimed artists and artisans to develop custom-crafted pieces, delivering a quintessentially British aesthetic. Working closely with both Argenta and Peninsula, intensive prototyping was factored in across the project roadmap to develop mockup rooms samples – a critical requirement for such an anticipated and prestigious development that was five years in the making.
Our white glove service was characterized by meticulous attention to detail and exceptional care throughout, drawing on the decades of expertise of our artisans. We provided personalised consultations, and tailored recommendations on materials and finishes to the best manufacturing processes, in order to deliver on the brief. The goal, as with every project, was to ensure expectations were surpassed across all of the projects’ stakeholders.
Bedside and living areas across the guest rooms and suites incorporate earthy, organic tones, and finishes. Integrated reading lights in the lamps feature dual switch controls, offering a tailored and carefully considered guest experience. Lamp bases incorporate a variety of premium raw materials including ceramic, leather, brass, and steel in a variety of exquisite textures.
Precision metalwork details were finished in burnished bronze for a connected design approach. Gently contrasting classic shades in luxury porcelain silks create timeless, refined appeal. Tactile, unique, and rooted in refined luxury, each design is a celebration of artisan craftsmanship, traditional skills, and British aesthetics.
In the public areas, coloured ceramic lamps ooze charm and a fun sense of style, with simple designs and shapes pairing back against the blue and red bases. A custom rust-style lacquer was developed for the ballroom lighting, while frosted acrylic diffusers were sued for soft, even light distribution in the three-tier floor lamp design.
