Working again with thriving commercial and hospitality designers, Tibbatts Abel, we were pleased to supply all the bespoke lighting installations and fittings for the new Opheem restaurant in Birmingham by the award-winning Chef Aktar Islam.

Tibbatts Abel had the brief of creating a space, filled with bespoke lighting, that matched this culinary brilliance and we were honoured to help them realise their innovative and unique designs inspired by Aktar’s incredible food.

There are several bespoke feature lights in Opheem restaurant. They all follow the same cloud theme of intricate brushed brass laser cut shapes interspersed with matt opal spheres creating a mesmerising ceiling screen that both holds the attention and creates a relaxing ambience.

The brushed brass and matt opal glass perfectly complement the rich timber tones and raw textured concrete walls and ceilings in Tibbatts Abel’s stunning scheme. Opheem Restaurant has found the perfect balance between warm tones and cold concrete, perhaps alluding to the delicate balance in the food being served.

Aktar Islam’s creative streak means that Opheem Restaurant is also home to vast amounts of stunning artwork. This has been highlighted with the most elegant bespoke track lighting. Individually finished to match the rest of the fittings and the best lighting solutions provided to bring out the exact colours in the art.

Finally, single mesh pendants in black and brass were used to highlight bar areas and the kitchen pass. The entrance area was completed by a bespoke ring pendant, finished in a complementing polished brass with a soft opal diffuser to create an inviting welcome to the restaurant.
