ara Design International was appointed as the designers for the sensational new lobby lounge at the Hyatt Andaz Hotel. Keeping in line with the London-based hotel’s already eclectic interior, this spectacular work of art pays homage to the building’s Victorian heritage as well as the liveliness of one of London’s most vibrant areas. Andaz is the first branded property in Hyatt’s portfolio, so it holds a unique place in the hospitality brand’s heart.

Northern Lights were tasked with realising the inspirational design concepts of a diverse range of bespoke lighting fixtures to complement the beguiling interior of the lobby lounge at the Hyatt Andaz Hotel. The host station, adorned with elegant brass table lamps that are completed with a neat tasselled fringe. With quality and robust design beneath its delicate appearance, these bespoke lights were designed specifically for the hospitality lighting market.

The colourful vibrancy of the lounge area is sharply contrasted by the stylish bar area, which is haloed by a spectacular satin brass bespoke chandelier. The chandelier provides a warm radiance to the guests that relax in this alluring area, while also offering distinction to the luxurious blue leather seating that pairs fantastically with the gold frame of the elegant console table.

Laser-cut blackened steel screens provide an exquisite feature to those sitting on the array of furniture on the other side of the lounge. Northern lights don’t just design lighting for hospitality; we also provide other bespoke decorative features such as shelving, mirrors and screens. The screens, which are juxtaposed beside the vivid graffiti, come fitted with transparent glass spheres that offer a soft light to those using the area. They are accompanied by Art-deco inspired bespoke floor lamps, that mirror the host station table lamps and their signature tasselled fringes.

Finally, the large round bespoke chandelier is the star of the show in our hospitality lighting contribution to this awe-inspiring historical venue. The hand-applied antique finish creates a beautifully dark partnership with the bespoke screens sat below. The floating framework sits below a vast atrium, meaning the bespoke chandelier had to look stunning from all angles. The reeded glass tube, when paired with LED filament lamps, give something low on maintenance costs but big on impact.
