Jewelled tones are seen throughout to create style and substance to the steakhouse offering. Veneered timbers are paired with illuminated natural stones for a sense of masculinity, whilst delicate glazing and curvaceous booth seating create a feminine balance.
This site is charismatic, charming, and desirable in style, with a show-stopping central bar and a unique champagne bar on the first floor.
Northern Lights have once before designed and manufactured bespoke decorative lighting for the Cut & Craft franchise, having supplied in recent years to the York branch. In turn, this made the challenge of realising the visions of both Mistry Lighting and Studio Two a desirable feat for our design team, who were well aware of the venue's brand and the opulence it desired to portray.
High-end products and finishes were absolutely key. We chose Northern Lights due to their ability to be bespoke and creative, offer innovative solutions and alternative suggestions on what would work best to enhance the space.
- Explained Zoe Wheatley, Director at Studio Two.
The multi-arm bespoke chandeliers are the showstoppers of the custom lighting specified on the scheme by Mistry Lighting and Studio Two. Finished in satin brass to complement the accents of the warm and rich palette shown throughout, the fixtures are completed with opulent matt opal globes that diffuse the light perfectly. The hand-finished chandeliers are applied to the wooden beams in the centre of the dining hall.
Situated closely to the beautifully restored staircase, our satin brass rod pendants illuminate cosy seating booths. The hand-applied shades are crafted using moulded acrylic that mimics the form of waves, taking on a natural appearance with a nod to the oceanic theme running throughout the venue.
Hanging over each of the six-seater tables in the restaurant is our lavish satin brass & alabaster pendant, complete with printed perspex diffusers. The fixtures are almost a metre in diameter and use materials truly reflective of the extravagance portrayed by Studio Two. Each lamp holder has been positioned to reflect on the hand-cut alabaster slabs, exposing the rich veins in each stone.
On the ground floor, each of the venue's astonishing original columns has been fitted with our large bespoke satin brass wall lights. At over two metres in length, each of these ambitious wall lights was crafted by hand in our Derbyshire premises, using the enormous facilities our artisans have at their disposal.
In the drinking lounge, the autumnal hues of the tan-leather booth seating are accentuated using a series of our decorative satin brass fixed table lamps. The bespoke fixtures are wired into a curved screen, delicately perforated using our state-of-the-art laser-cutting machine. The perforations softly diffuse the warming matt opal glass globes.
In the bathroom corridors, our contemporary wall sconces take on the form of mid-century candle holders but benefit greatly from hand-applied antique brass finishing. The candle holder-style application is fitted to an accompanying antique brass wall plate. The fixtures are complemented by bidirectional antique brass wall sconces that use a 'crackle' effect throughout the glass.
