COYA Mayfair reopened on Saturday 4th July with a new spirit of adventure, taking their guests on a refreshed multi-sensory journey into the heart of South America.
Traditional elements of Peruvian cuisine inspire the menu at COYA to create a modern menu for a vibrant London restaurant. COYA is also London's first Peruvian restaurant to include a private members bar. As well as a traditional pisco bar, COYA has an exciting and luxurious interior with Incan colours, murals and modern metallic finishes. The main contractor on COYA was Crane Interiors, and the interior designer was Sagrada. Our long-standing partnership with Sagrada has allowed Northern Lights to provide bespoke lighting fixtures to COYA restaurants around the world.
Northern Lights realised the unique brief set out by Sagrada by creating design concepts that would utilise every area of production within our Derbyshire facility. The Mayfair branch of COYA comprises of many Peruvian elements, including lush greenery that evokes the aesthetic of a rainforest. Bespoke multi-level laser-cut tarnished brass pendants lie amongst the newly introduced foliage. The intricately designed statement fixtures benefit from a reflective interior that emits a warming light source from its three light sources. Suspended by chains, the opulent chandeliers provide a stunning focal point amongst a delicately applied composition of intelligent and sympathetic interior design. This organic wave pendant has been used in various designs in several of the COYA schemes as the form with its waves, and undulating lines work well with the rich interiors and draping foliage.
Elsewhere, our iconic Aurelia pendants appear as a focal mainstay to marry with the rustic textures of the restaurant. The Aurelia pendants and wall lights have become a signature feature of COYA restaurants, striking in their finish and location. Utilised over private dining areas the rich gold distressed patina of the Aurelia complements the lush jewel colours and striking furniture used within the scheme.
In the corridor leading to one of the private dining areas, we created a bespoke turned wood lamp, gilded in a rich gold finish and adorned with a ruby red silk shade. This works beautifully as a foil to the antique wooden sideboard and Chinoiserie inlay panels.
We also supplied bespoke wall lights featuring a single fluted tear-drop glass with a brass backplate in an antique finish to the equally opulent restrooms. The elegant shape and impeccable finish have shown how simple shapes can make a substantial impact on quirky areas.
