Nestled within The Waterman, a newly transformed Victorian warehouse in Clerkenwell, Alfred’s Club serves as the welcoming heart of this contemporary workspace. Spanning 3,660 square foot, it functions as the main arrival area, offering co-working spaces, lounges, bookable meeting rooms, and a bar & café for tenants.

Designed by Fettle, the vision was to blend hotel lounge sophistication with a private members’ club atmosphere, elevating it beyond the conventional feel of traditional workspaces.

Inspired by the building’s industrial heritage, exposed brickwork and steel are complemented by vintage furniture and our bespoke lighting, seamlessly combining old-world character with modern comfort.

BESPOKE CEILING LIGHTS

To answer the brief, twelve-light chandeliers were crafted by our artisans from steel, constructed to form a linear silhouette that’s softened by smooth braided flex.  Clear glass globes sit within each steel ring, offering functional yet ambient light to be dispersed across the spaces.  Finished in powder coat black with light antique accents, the design offers the perfect fusion of industrial chic and modern elegance.

The second ceiling light design features elegant petal-shaped fabric shades that gently curve around each of the eight lamps, their contrasting trim adding a refined touch. The soft fabric balances the scheme’s industrial elements, introducing warmth and a welcoming, residential-inspired atmosphere. To ensure cohesion across the lighting scheme, the metal framework is finished in the same expertly applied tones as the chandeliers, reinforcing a sense of harmony and craftsmanship.

Remote drivers were used in both fixtures, allowing a sleek, refined appearance that blends seamlessly into the interiors while allowing for easier replacement and servicing.
