All Bespoke Restaurant and Bar Lighting
Northern lights have supplied bespoke restaurant and bar lighting for over 30 years, and the ‘thrown together’ approach is something we have mastered in those years. The interior designers wanted to capture the ingenuity of far eastern culture, who are famed for often making everyday items from waste materials.

ZAAP’s vision is to replicate a Bangkok street market precisely as it is – the flavour, the aromas, the sound, the sights, the excitement. Visitors are transported halfway around the globe when they step through the doors of the Nottingham street branch. The mock train tracks lead to a full-scale train cabin, helping covey the story of how commuters take a break and enjoy taking sustenance at the famous Maeklong Station.

Northern lights sheer amount of choice allowed the interior designers to fill the restaurant and bar with an eclectic mix of industrial lighting and reclaimed lighting. Our extensive range of bespoke finishes meant we could keep the bespoke lighting varied but complimentary of other areas of the scheme.
Working with the designer, we manufactured a range of bespoke ceiling features. Birdcage pendants with colourful fabric cylinder shades and mesh tube hang alongside the swag ceiling lights which feature glass shades and recycled tin cans. The final touch of Bangkok street authenticity came from the advertisement hoardings created in our UK lighting manufacturing facility. The advertising panels are each customised to feature traditional Thai advertising slogans.
