Just a short walk from Monument tube station and near London Bridge bridge, the venue plays with versatility. It boasts a wall that contains over 5,000 vinyl records that are all available to purchase.

Its interior is also markedly different from the branches before it, thanks to Shoreditch-based design studio Blacksheep. The studio works holistically with its partners from various backgrounds to deliver experiences that challenge convention and connect with guests in a meaningful way. Eastcheap Records has a sophisticated open-plan space that feels reminiscent of the famed lobby of Shoreditch's famed Hoxton Hotel.

Northern Lights were delighted to realise the brief set by Blacksheep for their vision of a very on-trend and contemporary interior. Lighting for venues such as this is typically a formidable challenge due to the necessity of finding a balance - the darker palettes call for a warmer light without bringing too much brightness into the equation. With this in mind, we endeavoured to create bespoke lighting that complemented the entire scheme and served the purpose of creating atmosphere through installation.

Above the entrance to Eastcheap Records is our uniquely designed aged brass multi-arm pendant, which welcomes guests to an already bustling interior. The complex installation comprises laser-cut brackets that house individual filament lamps, all complete with an acrylic diffuser. The design mimics that of a recording studio microphone, using the acrylic plate to imitate a mesh.

Hanging above the tables located on the outskirts of the central stage is a series of blackened steel pendants with intricately applied concentric perlatex rings. The outer drums were constructed using cut sheet metal and welded to a top disc, whilst a base diffuser disc softens the light. Each pendant has been handcrafted with intricate fretwork detailing and is finished with a top plate to prevent light spill.

In the centre of the venue is one of our most extensive lighting installations to date - a powder-coated frame that measures 12.25 metres squared. The complex hand-finished fixture creates not only a perfectly arranged lighting source for the seating beneath it but an eye-catching composition that complements the charismatic aesthetic of this stunning bar and vinyl store. Each rail connection is adorned with a series of individual light bulbs to produce a network of lighting that encompasses the venue.

Finally, our laser-cut rolled brass picture lights play a vital role in highlighting the artwork of classic albums around the establishment. The real brass details have been formed to house two subtly placed filament bulbs that use the hand-finished material to produce a warming light that captures the extent of the venue's decorations.
