Having one of the largest bespoke decorative lighting factories in the UK, we always look for ways to improve operational efficiency. The recent factory re-organisation has delivered some stunning results - we now have even greater capacity and shorter lead times.
So what has changed?
We have relocated the metal shade department to the newly refurbished mezzanine area – this made it possible to extend the wiring area so that we have greater capacity. A bigger and newly designed testing area will provide more orderly, accessible and ergonomic space for pre-delivery inspections.
All the work stations in metalwork and wiring have gone through a complete transformation – anything that is unnecessary to do the job have been removed. Following the slogan 'a place for everything and everything in its place', new tool boxes have been provided so that essential tools can always been reached easily and quickly, which is crucial to reduce lead times.
We have also expanded our shade department by consolidating storage space and adding an additional processing table. This means we can meet customers' requirements much more easily especially for the larger shades.
Having sufficient in-house manufacturing capability is essential to provide a bespoke flexible service. This is only a start of our long-term commitment to continuous improvement of our manufacturing facilities and processes. Watch this space!
