Bearing beautiful reminders of its original Italian architecture, this elegant boutique hotel mesmerizes guests with lakefront accommodations and an address that allows for easy exploration. Ritz-Carlton Geneva restaurants and bar were recently re-designed by the British design company, B3 Designers, who took advantage of this project to produce another stunning luxury hospitality interior.

When the directors of Ritz-Carlton Geneva decided to transform its new Fiskebar restaurants and bar, B3 Designers always considered contemporary Nordic minimalism as the starting point for the design's inspiration. This theme reflects the restaurant's cuisine concept, the first of its kind in the Swiss capital's prestigious neighbourhood. The harmonious connection with nature embodied the design ethos of this eclectic space, the neutral deeper and darker tones and the detailing abundance of raw materials and weathered textures against minimalistic furniture while retaining elements of timeless, opulent luxury.

The brief for Northern Lights was to match the Nordic-inspired space with bespoke overhead lighting to act as a focal point in an already-scenic interior. Futuristic long tubular pendant lights hover above the communal tables creating a more casual fish market-style atmosphere. The hand-finished blackened steel detailing to the tubes house matt opal cylinders to create a harmoniously diffused glow for a subtly comforting aura.

B3 Designers were fortunate to have some pre-existing heritage-listed features to work within the cocktail bar and lounge, which include antique wall panelling as well as classic French mouldings and 150-year-old parquet and walnut floor. This room was rumoured to have once been used for the drafting of the Geneva Convention, and the antique gilded dove-shaped door handles make a poignant reference to Switzerland's legacy of peace. The cocktail bar and lounge have a rich palette of textures and colours and timelessly classic vintage furniture.

Joining this remarkable room together is our understated brass chandelier, complete with smoked glass orbs. The focus and requirement for this opulent and eclectic interior were high-quality luxurious fittings. Our skilled artisans manufactured this bespoke light fitting, taking care that the joints were seamlessly finished and ensuring the detailing reflected and complemented the other elements in the room. The handcrafted fixture comprises of individual brushed hooped and horizontal brass arms connected to a vertically-aligned brass rod. Each division is adorned with handblown smoked glass spheres that emit a dusky light that does not detract from the beautifully finished features.

While the two areas have individually distinct personalities, they share a feeling of warmth and timeless luxury in keeping with the hotel's historic architecture.
