The Gessner is a collection of thoughtfully designed apartments located at Tottenham's former Berol Yard Pencil Factory.
5-arm antique brass chandeliers in the communal areas, 8-arm antique brass chandeliers in the communal lounge, antique brass pendant above the communal dining table and antique brass frame lighting above the communal cafe.
Managed by Way of Life, the striking building offers a considered design that sets the scene for a contemporary home in the heart of the Capital.
From the rooftop gardens with city views to guest-curated, art-lined walls that make a statement, there is enough variety to suit the needs of all its tenants.
Interiors studio Fettle took cues from hospitality spaces when fitting out this contemporary residential block in London, which houses 164 apartments alongside a co-working area and an in-house cafe. Northern Lights has enjoyed a long-term working relationship with Fettle, during which time we have provided decorative bespoke lighting to a wide range of their interiors, including Moncks of Dover Street, Tavolino and more.
The brief set by Fettle for Northern Lights was a stark contrast to the tasks that have been set for our design team by the boutique interiors firm in the past. Whilst the briefs we have become accustomed to typically call for traditional brasserie-style lighting, this setting required fittings that are better suited to residential interiors that still follow the modern trends required from bespoke decorative lighting.
The communal areas throughout the building are adorned with bespoke decorative lighting that has been handcrafted and finished by our skilled artisans throughout every stage of our Derbyshire premises. A running theme of expertly curated antique brass appears throughout the collection of fixtures in various forms.
A handcrafted wall-mounted frame above the communal cafe counter houses four antique brass domes that provide an intimate aura to those sitting beneath. Our skilled artisans have carefully curved the edges of the frame using our in-house CNC router, which provides a smooth finish to the frame.
The Gessner's communal lounge doubles up as a workspace for residential professionals to work, study and relax. The intimate space has been adorned with gorgeous wood panelling inspired by modern Scandinavian trends, abstract artwork, and beautiful brass accents. The area is haloed by two of our 8-arm brushed antique brass chandeliers, each complete with a set of matt opal glass globes that softly diffuse the light they produce. Other communal areas benefit from a 5-arm variation of the same chandelier.
The private dining room adjoined by a kitchen sets a very comfortable scene with a long dining table that sits ten people, surrounded by a log burner and lush greenery to complete a natural aesthetic that marries with the wooden flooring and panelling. Fixed flush to the ceiling above the table is our brushed antique brass pendant, complete with fabricated leaves that have been crafted using wood. The leaves take on the form of real leaves, showing intricate detailing that follows the veining patterns typically found on natural leaves.
