Bespoke Restaurant and Bar Lighting
To truly reflect the unique personality and authenticity of the restaurant, Superfutures had a vision of an array of bespoke light fittings and as before, wanted a UK lighting manufacturer to turn this vision into a reality.
Meaning ‘here it is!’ in Neapolitan, Obicà is a casual eatery specialising in small Italian plates, pizza, pasta and salads, using the best mozzarella money can buy - Mozzarella di Bufala Campana DOP. Its London flagship, a 120-seat restaurant in St Paul’s, also includes a deli, private dining room and terrace. Design consultancy Superfutures have created a warm, inviting space with an Italian neighbourhood vibe through a combination of natural materials, bespoke lighting and contemporary detailing.
On a small scale are the simple yet striking folded disc pendants. Featuring crisp folds with exposed LED lamps, the pendants champion the quality finishes and craftmanship over complexity. They are finished in brushed copper and a crisp white. Pure and fresh to reflect Italian food.
A 3.7m diameter LED ring pendant was installed in the main restaurant, adding a sophisticated minimal look to the relaxed space. The blackened steel finish contrasts against the warm oak wall its simplicity sits well alongside the copper and stainless steel details throughout the venue.
Another element of the bespoke lighting scheme is the perforated steel pendants. The bespoke pendant uses the perforation of the material as a natural diffuser; the light intensity mellows down to allow diners to relax in a more ambient setting. These bespoke pendants are finished to match the sizeable bespoke ring pendant in the main dining area and designed to mirror the angles of the smaller pendants.
