A 25ft glass installation to the atrium comprising of slumped gold and amber glass curls.
Public Area Lighting
Northern lights supplied the atrium and public area bespoke lighting, creating pendants and chandeliers using a wide range of metals and glass.
ara Design aimed to create a striking pendant to fill the atrium area in an organic yet geometric pattern. As a UK lighting manufacturer, we were able to deliver this brief tactfully and professionally.
Design and installation jobs do not come much more significant than The Hilton Baku. Working closely with ara Design, Northern Lights was responsible for the bespoke lighting in all the public areas and the development and installation of the entire front-of-house lighting scheme. One of the most stunning features is the 25 ft high curled glass drops installation for the atrium. Together with the suspension, the chandelier spans several floors.
It comprises of thousands of hand slumped and curved glass rods in amber and gold that when suspended, create a triangular form to the centre of the fitting and random organic waves to the outer structure.
The illumination of the glass is achieved using LED lamps within the drops enabling the feature to be striking both day and night. The bird's nest pendant is a large, sculptural basket form. Entwined with custom-made, aluminium wire with a bronze applied finish and individual faceted crystals, each supporting arm is hand-shaped and retained with a series of concentric bracing rings.
Northern Lights also supplied crystal and fused glass chandeliers for the ballrooms and the presidential suites. The ornate drops suspended in a complex and rigid pattern, creating structure and sparkle within the opulent interior.
