Enhancing a space's experience and developing a nurturing environment for her clients is, as an interior design studio, Rachel Usher's number-one objective. Her notion is that design relates to aesthetics only and truly understands that it must also be functional and seamless to interact with personally to add meaningful value to a scheme.

In terms of scale, this particular project brief was more bijou than other schemes Rachel Usher has worked on previously. The individual requirements, within the brief, redefining the purpose of the space, combined with the property's age, created a complex task. A respect and appreciation for the beautiful, original architectural features within the building was a priority whilst also delivering a scheme that felt contemporary, welcoming and comforting for guests to enjoy and feel relaxed within effortlessly.

Northern Lights were delighted to provide Rachel Usher Interior Design with our contemporary favourite, Luca. The oiled bronze wall lights can help define a space effortlessly with their delicately applied oiled bronze finish and pearlescent matt opal globes. Luca's sleek design allows it to fit into a vast array of interiors, and its body emphasises the beauty of our factory finishes.

The space lacked natural light, which influenced the curation of a subtle yet warm palette of colours built through various tones at different levels. This particular colour concept also aligned with the nature of the space as a guest bedroom - where a neutral palette is required to provide a harmonious atmosphere for guests to connect with. The well-devised palette, combined with the warm lighting, helped to exaggerate the soft hues used throughout the scheme.
