Wedgewood The Restaurant was the vision of Paul and Linda Wedgewood – a place to relax and enjoy an evening with great food in perfect surroundings. Purpose Design was commissioned to work on its refurbishment in 2012 and worked with Northern Lights to deliver the discreet lighting scheme.

Working from the design brief and initial hand-drawn sketches from Purpose Design, Northern Lights set about creating draft drawings for approval. Very quickly we were able to produce prototype fittings which were sent to the client and approved. This enabled our factory to meet the extremely tight deadline.

The sheer fabrics which were selected for the shades created an unusual lighting scheme. To ensure that the finished product would have the desired effect, Northern Lights worked closely with Purpose Design and were able to achieve the correct finish and more importantly, the required level of light.

The most unique lighting design feature within the restaurant is the ‘lampshade’ screen wall. The staircase chandelier hovers overhead with its spider-like arms reflected in the wall of mirrors. This solution makes a feature of the staircase to the restaurant's second dining area that previously went unnoticed.
