The complete decorative lighting scheme

Thaikhun, pronounced 'tycoon', is an exciting new casual dining experience from the Thai Leisure Group, the same company behind the successful Chaophraya and ChaoBaby brands. It offers Bangkok-style street food in authentic and traditionally rustic surroundings.

Accepting the challenge to create a 'Thai Heaven' in the heart of British cities, JMDA developed a bright, bustling and contrasting interior infused with rich and authentic elements.

Lighting is a main element in both restaurants. There is a common thread of using vintage styling and bespoke rusty finishes to accentuate the raw textures and bright colour schemes. Key features include caged lamps, oversized spun pendants and bird cage pendants in brushed steel.

In Aberdeen both telegraph poles and scaffold rails have been incorporated into the lighting scheme. A rustic multi-coloured patina was added to the poles and rails. They have become very distinctive and memorable features.

In Manchester, the exposed lamp chandelier makes a strong impression. It features various types of Edison lamps suspended from the rusty mesh steel box by black braided cables.
