Holdsworth Design Practice
Sukhothai is the capital of the old Kingdom of Thai. It also means ‘Dawn of Happiness’ in the Thai language. There is probably no better name for this new Thai restaurant chain which serves mouth-watering authentic Thai food created by the famous chef Ban Kaewkraikhot.
Northern Lights worked with Holdsworth Design Practice on both the Leeds and Harrogate projects. In Harrogate the challenge was to create a place fused with Thai flavour that would easily blend into the traditional surroundings of this quintessentially English town.
The interior designers developed a balanced and sophisticated interior using both contemporary elements and symbolic Thai details. The lighting echoes this design approach with modern chandeliers and pendants enhanced by subtle oriental references.
Featuring shades inspired by oriental lanterns, the pendant system comprises a central drum shade with clear glass balls and a group of cylinder shades in various sizes. All pendants feature a honey silk inner shade with a black voile outer shade. The more contemporary glass ball chandeliers add sparkle to the interior. In a carefully selected range of finishes from clear, chrome and tinted amber to grey and black, the chandeliers offset the more earthy tones of the furniture. All glass balls were hand-finished by our skilled glass workers to match the client’s specification.
