the complete decorative lighting scheme

Combining a modern and contemporary ambience with a boutique feel, Park Regis Birmingham is a brand new upscale deluxe hotel offering 253 well-appointed guest rooms located in the heart of Birmingham's City Centre. It is the 17th Park Regis in the world and first in Europe.

Northern Lights worked with both Tibbatts Abel and Edge Architects to develop a wide range of bespoke fittings throughout the hotel. A combination of stunning central features, elegant table and floor lamps as well as task lighting add to what is already a stunning interior design.

Public areas

Tibbatts Abel have created an environment that is both elegant and vibrant, with luxury touches added through creative use of materials and textures. From lobby and business centre to spa and restaurants, bespoke lighting was extensively used to enhance a truly unique atmosphere.

The stunning flower chandelier welcomes guests to the hotel, greeting them with a gentle twinkle from the moment they arrive. 4m long, the chandelier features more than 500 delicate laser-cut metal flowers complemented by crystal drops.

On the fourth floor, which reception, business centre and 1516 restaurant all occupy, the lighting is used to highlight the individuality of each zone as well as defining the different functional areas. The three ring crystal pendant injects instant excitement to the lobby with its dramatically positioned metal rings and dazzling crystal blocks. Seamlessly connecting the split levels is a 25m long metal tube fitting which features more than 6000 metal rods.

On the top floor is the Rofuto Restaurant, a modern Japanese Izakaya-style dining concept. Its highlight is a group of more than 60 glass tube pendants accentuating the stunning views across Birmingham City Centre. The minimalist style reflects the sleek and simple Japanese aesthetic with metal caps in a bronze finish adding a contemporary industrial twist. A cluster of ceiling lights featuring metal rings in a wooden veneer finish and bright-coloured ropes add a subtly quirky touch.

In addition to the feature chandeliers, we also supplied an extensive range of complementary pendants, table and floor lamps.

Guest rooms

Working with Edge Architects, we supplied fittings to guest rooms, suites, presidential suite and club lounge areas of the hotel. Incorporating the brand’s colour palette in the guest rooms, the interior designers created a contemporary setting that is comfortable and relaxing with a luxurious edge.

Clean-lined fittings and earthy-toned shades play a significant role in generating the atmosphere whilst providing sufficient light for the tasks at hand. Standard fittings from the Northern Lights catalogue were modified to suit the specific requirements of the scheme.

Project management

For a complex project such as this one, Northern Lights can offer a one source supply. We can accurately interpret the design intent thereby delivering high quality fittings, and also remove all of the usual concerns about technical and supply chain issues.

This means that the interior designers can concentrate fully on the creative side of the business.
