Interior Design firm GA Design was appointed to create the new London and Garden Suites in one of London’s finest Hotels. The brief from the client was simple; they wanted a 21st Century ‘Grand Hotel’.
GA. Design worked hard to create spaces that feel homely, refined, understated and elegant. The new suites are grand in design, using luxurious textiles, wallcoverings, butter-soft leathers and beautiful crafted woods.
These new suites are the first product enhancement at the property since its opening seven years ago and complement the existing suites and seven penthouses which evoke an elegant residential style, with expansive outside terraces complete with exceptional and previously unseen views across the capital.
The London Suite is inspired by a day in the capital; the light, fresh interior pays homage to modern living, with contemporary amenities and state-of-the-art facilities.
The Chandeliers that we supplied to the suites were all unique and bespoke to each room and space. Antique brass fittings with arms spearing off a central brass body at varying angles were softened by organic free blown clear spheres which were framed by a decorative "halo” ring detail. These were the lighting statement pieces in each room.
Stunning oversize glass table lamps bookend the sofas. Made from brass and hand-blown glass in the shape of an elongated cloche, these impressive lamps are both imposing and elegant. Meticulously worked by our team of skilled artisans, they have a real presence in the room. The silk shade specified by Laura ties in beautifully with the other elements of her scheme.
We worked on a diverse number of designs including beautiful Art Deco inspired frosted glass bedside lamps. These were thick pieces of glass cut to a right-angled triangle, polished, frosted and set in a cross formation. Offset by intricately detailed brass elements they are finished with a silk shade and satin glass diffuser with a decorative finial to the top.
The Garden Suite is designed with a nod to the quintessential British garden and overlooks a beautifully landscaped courtyard. Accents of verdant green, in soft furnishings and live planting, create a tranquil setting.
Numerous classic brass wall lights were created for the garden suites, finished in antique brass and silk shades. Large silk drums were used as a central pendant to many rooms. These were designed to be almost flush to the ceiling and with a very soft light source creating a warm and inviting ambience.
We are honoured to have worked on this project with GA Design and to have delivered the quality of design and detailing required for this iconic hotel.
